Performances of songs and spoken word, interspersed with a traditional ceilidh (‘visit’ in Gaelic) where we gather and those who are interested can offer up a song, or poem, or story. This will be hosted by Lorna.
There’s no expectation for everyone to share something, only that the opportunity is there for anyone who might like to. NB it is not a ceilidh in the contemporary sense of traditional dancing.
Performers:
Lorna MacBean (host) is a singer-songwriter who loves a good story. Lorna performs as dystopian diva Doctur Normul.
Tawona Sitholé / Ganyamatope is a widely published poet, playwright, storyteller and musician. He is also a lecturer in Creative Practice Education within the UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Education, Languages and the Arts, and co-founder of Seeds of Thought, a non-funded arts group.
Erin Friel is a rapper from Springburn, Glasgow. She writes in her native tongue and performs with her unmistakable Glaswegian dialect. Erin is a storyteller at heart and draws inspiration from her experience and love for hip hop.
This is the final event of the ‘Dear Green Commons‘ series. Everyone is welcome to attend.

This event is supported by the Commonwealth Games Festival Fund, which has made it possible to make spaces free to book. If you are unable to take up any spaces you have booked, please be sure to cancel them. We will ask for a donation on the day to support current and follow-up work.
Getting there: The GalGael Trust is a 4-minute walk from Ibrox subway station and close to Paisley Road West with various bus options. We’d like to encourage attendees to consider choosing public transport or active travel options where possible. However, there is free on-street parking, subject to availability, for those who need it.
People with children: The GalGael is a workshop area with tools and machines on site. All ages are welcome, but guardians will be responsible for their children.
