Popular Education Series

The CHE has partnered up with CAMINA to host a series of events around popular education:

Practicing Freedom – A Reading Group

For the 50th anniversary of the publication of Paolo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed, we want to explore, celebrate & unravel its relevance for all kinds of practice. Opportunities for collective reflection & dialogue feel like a powerful and valuable way to untangle a text like this (not least because it can be a challenge to read). Both CHE and CAMINA are keen to carve out more collaborative spaces for this kind of dialogue and exploration, linking theory to practice.

Dates, times and locations:

Chapter 1: 24th March 2018, 11am – 1pm, Offshore Cafe

Chapter 2: 24th June 2018, 12:30pm – 2:30pm, For Fika Sake

Chapter 3: 22nd July 2018, 3pm – 5pm, Glasgow Autonomous Space

Chapter 4: 4th August 2018, 3pm – 5pm, Glasgow Autonomous Space (tbc)

This event will offer a space to engage our hearts and minds around the opportunities and challenges for critical pedagogy today as well as hearing about Antonia Darder’s new Student Guide to Pedagogy of the Oppressed.
