CHE graduate Helen Jeans has been running an exciting new project which needs participants! Would you like to get involved? Helen writes: The Open University is developing a new Internet site to support collaborative learning called SocialLearn. The pilot version of SocialLearn is focused on climate change as part of the Open University’s Learning to Live with Climate Change Programme which facilitates social learning processes as a way of building understanding, consensus and concerted action on climate change. Both SocialLearn and Learning to Live with Climate Change are global programmes.
This is an invitation to participate in the testing of SocialLearn during late June and July 2009. Taking part will enable you to add content to SocialLearn, engage in collaborative learning with other testers and influence the development of the site and content on climate change.
During the test the site will record details about usage,
such as how many people visit each page, how popular resources are and
how much activity there is on the site which will allow the Open
University to improve SocialLearn. The test of SocialLearn has been
approved by the University’s Research Ethics Committee.
How long will it take? You can visit SocialLearn just once or
return and engage throughout the test period. To get the most out of
SocialLearn, expect to be active there for at about 20 minutes each
week.
I use assistive technology; can I use SocialLearn? SocialLearn is intended to be usable by everyone.
How do I take part? If you'd like to take part in the test, please sign up at: http://www.sociallearnproject.org
