The Centre for Human Ecology has now launched a new service to advise and support businesses and other organisations responding to the challenges of sustainability and climate change.
CHE Consulting (www.checonsulting.net) is aimed squarely at meeting the needs of organisations whose leaders recognise the time has now come to work out how – not if – their organisation can develop and change to be part of the solution the planet and its people need.
“Our approach” says co-founder Osbert Lancaster, “builds on the head, heart and hand theme that has been central to CHE’s acclaimed postgraduate programme. We are pragmatic idealists – inspired by the big picture of ecological sustainability and social justice, while fully alive to the very real constraints – organisational, financial and competitive faced by organisations seeking to change.”
“We offer a range of services” adds co-founder Crispin Hayes, “to enable organisations to understand their impacts; integrate organisational, social and environmental strategies; and create greater alignment between the values and objectives of staff, the organisation and wider society.”
The service builds on CHE’s track record of pioneering work on environmental and social issues since 1972 when it was founded; and draws on the wide experience, human ecological insight and practical skills of CHE Fellows and graduates. Recent consultancy projects include developing responsible procurement policies for the Scottish Parliament and assessing the environmental impact of sugar production for the leading fair trade organisation, Traidcraft plc.
