A world renowned expert in Ecological Footprint analysis is to offer a
special one day course at CHE for anyone with an interest in
calculating the environmental impact and sustainability of a product,
organisation, lifestyle or region.
The course on 9th November will be run by CHE and led by Craig Simmons, director of Oxford based Best Foot Forward.
Craig, a founding member of the Global Footprint Network and a member of the international footprint standards committee, has been involved in more than 80 footprint projects with government bodies, businesses and NGOs. These include the Scottish Cities Review, Scotland's Footprint, Stepping Forward, Material Health and WWF's One Planet Business. He was also one of team who developed the regional footprinting methodology adopted by the EU Common Indicators Programme and which formed the basis of the latest Footprint Standards. Craig has written and lectured widely on environmental accounting methods.
Osbert Lancaster, CHE Executive Director, said "I'm delighted that Craig is coming up to Scotland to share his expertise. This is a rare chance to learn from a leading figure in this field."
This course is intended for people who are familiar with the concepts of footprinting, but want to gain a more technical understanding of the methodology and its application.
Participants will learn how to calculate an ecological footprint from first principles. Using case studies and worked examples, they will learn how to determine the footprint of a lifestyle, region, organisation, product or service.
The course will cost £350, including refreshments and lunch. Further information here.
