MSc in Human Ecology
Written by Centre for Human Ecology
Wednesday, 05 March 2008

Please note:  the Centre for Human Ecology will not be offering the MSc Human Ecology in partnership with the University of Strathclyde from September 2009. We would like to thank prospective students for their interest in our programme, and invite them instead to join a short course. Spiritual Activism, Action Research and Ecopsychology will all continue to be available for CPD students from September 2009. Provisional Dates are Eco-psychology (Jan-May 2010), Spiritual Activism (Jan-May 2010) and Action Research (Oct 2009-Jan 2010). Click to download the full timetable of courses for 2009-10 here

Human Ecology uncovers and investigates the connections between personal action, social, industrial and agricultural systems and our planet’s ecology.

The challenge? To critically examine how we do things and understand their impact. To develop improved, alternative, ways of organising our lives, our work and our societies – to reduce poverty and inequality, decrease our use of resources, enhance the environment and improve quality of life for all – now and for generations to come. MSc, PG Diploma & PG Certificate offered through a partnership between CHE and the University of Strathclyde.

Led by practitioners actively working with organisations and communities, this MSc in Human Ecology is unique: integrating natural and social sciences with personal and organisational development skills. In many ways, the course represents our practice -- a constantly-evolving action-reflection process for core and contributing tutors, with input from the wider CHE community of practitioners across the world. Each year is unique, building on the needs and talents of students as well as more than 15 years' experience facilitating transformative learning.

Participants explore the theoretical, cultural and vocational practice of Human Ecology. They develop creative approaches to leadership and professional practice, sensitivity to both human and non-human worlds, and critical awareness.
