Antonio Malo has been in touch to tell us what he has been doing since graduating from CHE in 2004.
Antonio came to CHE from Ecuador where he had studied environmental biology and developed an interest in drama and the theatre.
After graduating with a postgraduate certificate in Human Ecology, he
returned to Ecuador where he is now very busy, teaching two subjects at
Azuay University in Ecuador – including Human Ecology – as well as
studying for a masters in Environmental Management.
In his e-mail to CHE staff he wrote: “Well, I just want to say thank to
you all, I am trying to apply what I learnt from you… and believe it
has been really useful.
“I am working at the university where I studied. I am teaching two
subjects: Human Ecology and Environmental Management. I am trying to
share the things that I learnt from you… it is a big responsibility!
Also I started a master in Environmental Management, so I am still
studying.
“I was tired from NGOs and consulting. University opened to me a big
door, and we have the space to propose projects. I wrote a project for
the city council (they asked for it) and it was approved (Thanks
again!). We will do a partial environmental assessment for the rural
area of the city and then we will establish seven environmental
management units at community level. I wanted a project with high
participation, but funds and time are limited… anyway it is a first
step!
“Well that’s all for me now. Have a wonderful year and thank you all again!" |
